Hello Everyone
Im trying my decorated cookies today, so I have a few questions:
How long does it take to dry the iced cookies?
How long can I store the decorated cookies?
Thanks for your help

Hi Bakerinut! Welcome to CC!!

What kind of icing are you using? Is it Royal? Royal usually takes about 24 hours to dry completely (so that they can be stacked), but is usually dry to the touch in much less than that.

I store my decorated cookies (royal iced) in an airtight contianer for up to 10 or 12 days. They can also be frozen for months.

thank you bonniebakes!
I'm trying the royal icing today. I made the wilton roll-out cookies recipe, and put less sugar, and I think it was better (at least for me).

Im going to use royal icing, I bake a lot, mainly cakes, but Im a begginer in decorated cookies.

Your info is really helpful.

Bonniebakes, did I read correctly? Do you freeze your royal iced cookies and not have a problem with colors bleeding and the flavor after thawing? I haven't done any "designer" cookies yet, but want to give them a try. I've been doing cake so far, but cookies seem like less of a commitment, smaller and easier to give away! icon_smile.gif Thanks.

Hi bakerinut, welcome to CC. You might want to give the no-fail sugar cookie here on this site just to try something different. It has never failed ME! Best of luck to you. icon_biggrin.gif

DianaMarieMTV - yep, you read correctly. I've never had a problem with colors bleeding and the taste is fine. I wrap them like a crazy person and thaw them in the contianer. I've also never frozen them for more than 3 weeks, but I'm sure it would be fine for longer (so I've read here, anyway).
