I am doing two 22x30's for my FIL 50th Surprise party this weekend. I have changed my mind and changed my mind again. I am now to the wire and have gone clueless. I am going to do white icing with chocolate buttercream piping and borders but I don't know what to do in the big open space??????? HELP

Hi Alicia, Does your FIL have any hobbies or special interest? If so try to incorporate that into the cake. He'll appreciate the extra effort. Good Luck!

I made this cake for a birthday, I know it is round, but you could do the same thing with a sheet cake. Instead of completely covering the top with the shaved chocolate, you could mark off a blank oval in the center of the top and pipe a bead border around the oval and bring the shavings right up to the outside border of the oval. Then put happy birthday or whatever in the middle. You could maybe make one of the cakes with white and dark chocolate mixed and one with either just white or just dark (or mix it like I did with milk and dark chocolate).

How about a bass guitar then? That would be awesome.
