Need Help - Simple White Cake Receipe
Baking By Neelas_wife Updated 7 Aug 2006 , 8:29pm by lilthorner
Hello All,
I just completed my course 1 in Wilton and I am in love with cake decoration
Have been religiously following this website and its the best place ever ![]()
So far I have been using pillsbury or BC cake mix but I prefer to work on a receipe from scratch. Can anyone suggest a simple white cake receipe?
P.S: I bought all purpose flour....will this work as a basic ingredient instead of cake flour?
Thank you all in advance for your inputs...Cant wait to read them all.
Happy cake decorating!
Hello Homecook:
Thanks for your instant reply. Do you know where I can find this receipe?
Rose Levy B's may have been posted somewhere on here--try searching her name in the forums... I'd post it but it's after midnight and I'm tired. Try me in the a.m. if you don't have any luck, and I can PM you a copy...It's the only white cake I make.

whoops--her book is called The Cake Bible, and it really is...
So far my favorite is Rose Levy Berenbaum's white velvet cake recipe, moist and wonderful... I haven't tried Colette's or Toba Garrett's, but I AM hooked on Toba's chocolate fudge cake, Oh My Goodness!
Mmmm, I wonder if I should try Toba's fudge cake. I tried Rose Levy's Butter Chococlate Fudge Cake and it is also DIVINE!!!
I can't wait to try this white velvet cake also. I have the book and I am trying them one at a time. Well, at least the ones that are simple enough..
Maria,
Try Toba's fudge cake. I make it exactly, only I can NOT find Dutch processed cocoa here, so I substitute regular, with no problems. I have used Rose's fudge cake, and I'm always still trying to find that One Chocolate Scratch Cake to be "the one". My DH HATES cake (go figure), and I made Toba's cake last night, and he said that's the One. He's that way about Rose's white velvet cake too, and I use Sylvia W.'s yellow cake but haven't tried Toba's.
