Okay, Help...I have no idea here. He is 80, has no interest, no favorite teams....Any ideas?? Thanks!
What did he do for a living? Does he like to eat something special? May be a simple cake with some characters on the top that would represent the family.
What about a book, I just love this one by Renuka:

I made a cake for a 90 year old man, the Debbie Brown tree stump cake which I felt was perfect for someone that age (or even a wee bit younger???) . Have a look at mine if you like or there are plenty of others here. He loved it and didn't cut it until weeks later (he froze it!!)
If he is 80, chances are he was in WWII. Maybe a medal he earned, a ship he was on, or something pleasantly reminiscent of his experience in the war.
Another suggestion, play on the lyrics of an old song he might enjoy singing or whisteling.
I think I could do a open book with scrapebook pictures. The problem, his wife died several years ago and has been dating this lady for about seven years, do you do pictures of both women?
I think I would try to avoid the pictures of him and his significant others. Maybe just pictures of him through the years. This might help avoid any uncomfortable moments.

I have to agree with ailyn222.
