I just made a sheet cake to cut flip flops out of for an end of the year cake to take to work with me (elementary school)... its been an on going joke for awhile cause we are not allowed to wear flip flops to work. We have a secret flip flop society and when you recieve a pair of flip flops in your mailbox you have to post a picture of flip flops on you classroom door that say Ive been flip flopped and put flip flops in someone elses mailbox. This is why i thought it would be a cute cake idea. HOWEVER, I went to take the cake out of the pan and it spliT (UGGGGHHH) Normally i freeze it a little first BUT i wasnt thinking and just took it out. I put it in the freezer anyways... do you think I will still be able to carve a flip flop out of a broken cake and frost???? HELP ME PLEASE

What a cute story. icon_smile.gificon_lol.gif

Sorry, I don't have any cake carving experience. But if you can carve around the broken parts, you should be okay.

Hopefully, someone with more experience can give you a more definitive answer.

how?
in half across the short dimension -- then you've already got two parts for two fat flip flops?

or bunches of little flip flops?

If it split in 1/2, easy fix, but as Doug said, a bunch of little flip flops, maybe a little tougher to piece. You may as well push it together and try though!

I think if you freeze it you will have better luck. I've had to piece sheetcakes cakes together quite a bit.

If it was me I would stick it together with a bit of buttercream and freeze it and then carve it.
