I just got some Luster dust and am pretty new to this as you can tell by my post and my pics but could anyone please tell me how to use it. Is it just like paint so I won't have to color my fondant and can I use it on royal icing as well??? Please Help... icon_cry.gificon_cry.gif

I mix my luster dust with vodka until it is the same consistancy as paint. I have painted cakes with luster dust. But just a warning it tends to bring out every tiny flaw. If you are planing to do that you will probably still need to color your fondant depending on the depth of color your looking for. I prefer to use it to highlight a decoration like a bow and bring out the color. You can paint royal icing once its dried. If it isn't dry you will end up dissolving it. good luck and welcome to CC.

Lemon extract works well, to me, just like vodka. The lemon extract brings out every flaw as well.

Or you can use it dry on the fondant and steam to set it.

Thank you all I am going to do a wedding dress cake today just for fun to try it out. Either way my daughter and my greedy brother will eat it.
