This is maybe a silly question, but since i never made a square cake before I want to make sure of this. Do I have to frost the cake perfect and smooth with BC before I cocer with fondant??
I usually try to crumb coat my round cakes, frost and cover with fondant, and never had a probem, but with round cakes there are no corners to worry about, how do you do it??

Thanks a bunch!! icon_redface.gif

I use BC under my fondant, even for square cakes. The fondant smoother (by Wilton) works well, especially if you have two, for square cakes. You can run them along the same edge to try and get a sharper corner. Does that make sense? If you only have one, use your hand to run along the adjacent edge. Also, I usually work from the corners in.
