Ok, since i've only worked w/fondant once I'm curious to know whats the life of it afters its been on the cake, or when using it to create figures and stuff how long can it sit before its no good anymore? Can you just keep it in a airtight container in a cool room? Because I've made my hands full trying to create two cakes by the 19th of aug and near the end of aug. And both are pretty monsterous cakes that require a lot of work. And I was curious if I could make my pieces now and keep them till I need to assemble them on the cake.
thanx

Hi,
You can make them as far ahead of time as you can...they
do not go bad, at least not in the next 12 months, serioulsy !!

The longer they dry, the better they (figures or flowers) get..they get really firm, so you won't have a problem letting them stand on their own.
So feel free to do them now.. if it's on the cake, then it's a different story. icon_smile.gif

figures and accents can last indefinantly... just keep them covered from dust and moisture... after covering a cake its good to eat up to about 4 days... but you certainly can make it now and keep it sealed airtight.
