Has anyone ever used wiltons spray color on MMF? I have a poker cake to do and I need to make some of the fondant decorations black. I figured it would be easier than tinting the fondant black. Does it dry completely or does it stay wet?

i've never done it, but it might take a couple of cans i think. not sure how it dries on fondant, you could always do a test patch?

I've used the blue spray on BC but never on MMF or fondant of any sort. But I need to create black fondant too and am curious other ways to get it black. I'd assume its like painting fondant because on paper its dry. Its like airbrushing. I'll give it a try when i make a small taste test batch of MMF and my blue spray and let you know icon_biggrin.gif

Nexus, I tried using black spray color on some MMF last night and it was horrible!!! It didn't even tint the fondant, everything just ran off. I don't know if it was the can I got or not though because I used some yellow for the same thing and it turned out great. Did you try the blue yet?

From what I hear you have to spray several light coats to get a good deep black.I have never tried sparying on fondant but that is what others have reported even with an airbrush.Let the coats dry in between.

i've used the wilton spray on fondant (see my last cake - madagascar) but mostly green when i have a lot of leaves or something to color. the rocks on this cake were done with black, but i only needed them a gray color....the ladies are right....u have to do several light coats to get a true black....i'd suggest testing out the colors you'll need on some scrap fondant pieces to see how many coats you'll need and if it becomes the color you want.....you have to be very careful to not spray too much on at once or it will run
