I know I posted this in the General but thought I would see what comes up here.
Hey all! I have entered a county fair cake contest and I need some recipe help. I need three knock your socks off scratch cake recipes. Along with your cake pickings please include a filling that goes great with that cake and a buttercream flavoring that goes with the cake and filling. I would like to try the recipes out before the fair entery July 30th! Thanks for the help! Megan

I don't have any ideas since I rarely bake from scratch. I'm also looking for great recipes since I want to venture back to the good old fashion way of baking. So here's a bump for you thumbs_up.gif

Try the sweet potato cake from www.foodnetwork.com by cassandra thomas, there is also a cream cheese icing recipe along with the cake.
WBH chocolate buttercake, I like this one with hazelnut BC from www.cakewalkchicago.com , Red velvet cake (sarah's recipe from cc).

I think I forgot to say I would rather use a BC icing, bc I am more familiar with that. Also it is going to be HOT here when this fair comes along and I am going to use the high humidity BC recipe bc the one will be on display for the week if it wins.
