How do you use it? I am looking at getting the double bladed one but want to make sure they really are worth it first. I saw a post on here some where were someone had one but couldn't figure out how to use it. Weather to pull it over and through cake or pull cake through it. I just want to see how someone with it uses it and likes it. Thanks in advance for any and all help.

I usually clear off a space on the table, or counter, and adjust the height of my blades. Then I sit the cake on a non-skid mat and slide the leveler in a sawing motion through the cake . I like to have the cake partially frozen as well because it is easier to handle the layers once they are cut.

I hope this made sense to you!

It's super-easy to use and it slices through the cake like butter. I highly recommend it!!

The lady who posted before said it was tearing the heck outs her cake, I wonder if she could have left the blade protector on or something? I have always heard they were awesome! I have a chance to buy the single blade for about 55.00 do think that's a good deal? The lady with it said she bought it 2 years ago and just doesn't bake anymore. She has all the stuff it comes with and says the blade is still really sharp.

I'm the original poster re: tearing up my cake....

I discovered that the issue was the cake was too fresh - it has to sit overnight before it won't fall apart when using the agbay.

I have to say that I've since used it several times (with properly rested cake) and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. It just takes a time or two to get the hang of it.

I actually have figured out that I can leave the agbay stationary and then I see saw my cakes through it.

AND - I cannot emphasize this enough - the customer service is OUTSTANDING - unlike ANY I've ever encountered. Within an hour of my first post about cake tearing - Maureen called me at home - on a Sunday - to help! She has since called to follow up to make sure everything is working okay.

I think it was worth every single penny!!

I would definitely buy it for $55!!!!!!!!!! I bought it from Maureen and would buy it again!

Deana - you are right, Maureen is great and always trying to help!! She belongs to my state ICES group and I have met her a few times. She was selling some books at one of our meetings, and the one I wanted wasn't there, but she had it at home - I paid her and she shipped it out in the next few days!

I have an agbay. The best investment I have ever made. I had to save money from the sales of my cakes, but WOW it is worth it.

The only time it tears the back of my cake is when I overcook my cake.

It is sooo wonderful, I've had it for awhile and I still get giddy each time I use it!

I have the single blade, works good enough for me icon_smile.gif

I have the single blade also...didn't think I would need the double blade, and haven't wished I had it yet!

For $55 that is a steal!

I have the single blade model and very happy with mine. The blades are super sharp and I've had mine for several years. Even if the blade on the one you're buying needs replacement, it's only $20 to get a new blade.

That's what I was thinking too. I looked on their site and if that's all I need to do it's still worth it.
