hiya,

cant remember what size flower wire i purchased last time to make roses and lilies and the like. i need to order some more as my pack have fell down the back of my deep freeze! what size wires do you use?

choices i have are between 24 and 32 guage, the lower the guage the thicker and heavier the wire. i want a sturdy wire but i dont want it to be so heavy it rips through my fondant!

hoping you can help!

thanks, stacey

it really depends on the size of the flower you are making. I would suggest getting a selection of them from very thin to very thick and then you always have stuff on hand. I usually just keep a pencil box full of them on hand.

For larger, heavier flowers, a 20 gauge would be best if you want the flower to stand upright rather than "droop". You can try using two smaller wires if you don't have access to 20-gauge and just wrap them as one with floral tape..
