I'm fed up with uneven, warped cakes!! I'm about to break down & purchase some Magic Line pans. For those that have these, which do you prefer, the 2 or 3 inch? I think I'll start out buying some round ones. Amazon has a set of 4 (3in round) for $60. Anyone know where I can find a better deal?
Thanks for your input!

Country Kitchens has it cheaper for that set of 4. It only adds up to $41.05 for the 6,8,10,12,14 Magic line pans, 3" deep. Here is the link: http://www.countrykitchensa.com/catalog/SearchResults.aspx?description=magic%20line&page=-1

I prefer using 3" pans, and have 2 pans of each size. I do not like getting a "lip" on my cakes so use these pans to bake 2" high cakes.

Thanks, but I didn't see that particular set. I only saw a set of 4 (8,10,12,14in) for 39.99. The Amazon set was a 5 pieces not 4.

I added up individual pan prices on Country Kitchens for the 5 pieces that was included in the Amazon link:

6" = 5.75
8" = 6.40
10" = 7.85
12" = 9.85
14" = 11.20

which adds up to $41.05.

The same set on cooksdream.com is $52.02. I bought a lot of pans at once, and got a 15% discount. There is a 10% discount on orders of $99 or more, and 15% off of $249 or more.

I have purchased from them twice and was very happy.

There are some on Ebay for sale. Sometimes you can get a deal on shipping. Just put in Magic Line Cake in the search field. I don't know if there are any better prices on Ebay but it's worth a look.

Definitely 3 inch ones! You can make 2 inch cakes in them too, but you can't make 3 inch cakes in 2 inch pans. Also, just from my own experience, get the rounds, the squares, and sheets. You can make just about anything and everything with these pans. Good luck and happy shopping!

lecrn:
I just bought all new Magic Line pans also! I bought mine from "Into The Oven" (limited selection) and "The Ultimate Baker". You could also look at "Cake Art Party Store". They have sets also.
You'll be very happy with your new pans!! icon_smile.gif I bought all 3" ones.

I forgot to answer your question - I prefer 3" - although I do own several 2" - and they work just as well for most things.

Miriel, I just purchased 4 pans (3in) from Country Kitchens. They did seem to have better prices when I added in the shipping.
If I receive good service, I may purchase some more.
Thanks all for your input! Can't wait to get my new pans!
