I am doing a hula girl and had my mom pick me up some doll picks. Where do people get the pretty dolls that look more like Barbies? The doll my mom picked up looked very 1970! I don't want to scare this poor girl and want her hula girl to be pretty? Do you use an actual Barbie or are there more doll picks out there that I just don't see?

I've read a few posts where people remove the barbie doll head from the barbie and put it on the pick. Maybe you can ask the gir's mom if the girl has a fav barbie doll because its kinda alot to go buy 1 just for the head.

Yes, I know what you mean about those doll picks! I made a doll cake and just undressed a barbie doll and stuck her in the cake. I used the pampered chef 8 cup bowl plus 1 8"round to go underneath because the barbie was to tall.

They are actual Barbie dolls from the store.Usually my customer will pick one out and drop it off to me!! That way you don't incur the cost of the doll and if you do..add it to the price of the cake because the little girl gets a toy out of it also!!

I got mine at AC Moore. I don't think she looked like she was from the 70's. icon_confused.gif Could just be me though, since I remember them??? icon_redface.gif I don't know. Anyways, I used it on my doll cake in my pics. I don't know if it like the one your mom got or not. Good luck!!!

I use Wilton doll picks, and I think they are pretty. Sometimes I leave their hair down and sometimes I ask my teenage daughter to do up the hair for me.

I just made a hula girl cake and used the Beach Fun Barbie. I wrapped her from the waist down in cling wrap so she would stay clean and put her in the cake. It worked out great and the little girl was very excited that she got to keep the Barbie.

OHMYGOSH!!! Thanks for all the help. Your dolls all look beautiful!!! This doll pick I have looks nothing like any of yours!!! I will take the advice and buy a barbie to stick in. I like the idea of wrapping her in cling wrap from the waist down. Thanks again CC!!!!

Remember if you're using Barbie that she is taller than the wondermold pan. You will have to bake another cake to go underneath. Some people use another round cake and others put the wondermold on a sheet cake. I have read this in other posts. I personally only use the picks.
