Need Help With Coming Up With Search Terms For My Site
Business By squarepair Updated 15 Jun 2007 , 1:47am by surfergina
Sorry not sure that makes any sense. We bought the web enhancement that is supposed to move my website up in the search engines. Well I thought DH had done it all (he is out of town) but I just went on there and you have to type in keywords or phrases that people would most likely search for. There are only 3 lines so I guess I have to narrow it down to 3, yikes!! I was thinking..
Wedding cakes Northern Virginia
wedding cakes DC Metro
???
Oh my town is relatively small, you know one of many suburban towns so I am not sure people would search for my town specifically. I don't know I am just drawing a blank. I figure I would put wedding cake because even if they search cakes it should still come up. Any advice??

Hi squarepair! I can help you with that. The easy way to find keywords is in your website. Use as many keywords you can find. I'm too am in processing of getting my website together. Here are some of my keyword example:
wedding, wedding cake, bride, bridal, cake, cakes, reception, white, chocolate, vanilla, buttercream, fondant,
Also, you can check other people's website and see their keywords listed. All you have to do is to open their website, go to View (your Window's menu on the top screen), click it and then click on Page Source. You will see html codes. On either 2nd or 3rd paragraph, you should be able to see "keywords" and there you'll know what keywords they used for their website. This will help you get some ideas.
Hope this help. ![]()
Thanks guys. I did find a thing on my host site where I can put in keywords and it will tell me how many times in the last month that has been searched on Yahoo. That was kind of helpful. They have some other things too, to compare yourself to your competitors. It is all kind of confusing, meta tags???? and other weird language. Luckily DH is knowledgeable on this if he were ever home that is!!

Hmm, just noticed that bakery is a popular key term, should I use that. I'm not really a bakery??
Of course! How about cakery, cake design, cake designer, cake shop, etc.
