Okay- I've been volunteered for career day at my daughter's school. I'm going to be talking to two groups of 25 2nd graders. I've got about 20 minutes. I need to have something catchy or 'hands on' to get their attention.
My ideas:
bring cupcakes and let them 'be a decorator' (kinda messy though)
do a bunch of roses on hershey's kisses while talking and hand them out (lots of sugar)
Bring my laptop with slideshow loop of cakes
Bring one big cake and let the kids take turns decorating and then slice it up (still messy)
Better ideas?

I know a 2nd grader is a world's difference from an 8th grader, but above is the link about my demo for 8th graders...might give you some ideas.
If you only have 20 minutes, and 2nd graders have a zero attention span, why not take in some already decorated cookies, show them how to decorate ONE, then pass out the decorated ones. While they are munching, you could show them how to make a rose out of the kiss and little things.
Thanks for that link! I didn't know a lot of stuff that you talked about. ![]()
