I have seen beautiful cakes on here with freehanded scrolls. Does anyone know any tips to do this? Or is there anyone who knows if there is a tutorial for this? I am still kind of new and trying to find my way around.
Thanks!!!
Amy

I've been practicing. I fill up pastry bag and experiment with different tips. I've been using pizza boxes to practice on and other large cardboard things (like the bottoms of water bottle cases) that I can fill up with lettering, scrollwork, dots, etc.

It's hard for me to give tips for that but I can tell you that the most important thing is to keep your hand moving. Don't hesitate or go to slowly because you'll notice a waver in your line. Also squeeze steadily so that your piping doesn't break. Adding some piping gel or thinning down your icing helps...I find it easier not to fill your bag too full either. The more of the bag that fits in my hand the better control I have of it. Too much icing hangs over the side of my hand and the weight of it pulls down...
