when using piping gel for water do you put it on top of buttercream or just on top of the cake itself???

I put it on top of buttercream. The cake might show through the 'water'. BC give it a nice base.

Just a quick word of advice - taste it before you commit to it. I'll grant you it makes beautiful water, but it tastes horrid when you get a mouthful! icon_razz.gif

I too use the colored piping gel on top of the white BC and swirl it in for the effect of waves.

Put it ON the bc. I have to agree, it doesn't taste good. Maybe just use a thinner layer.

Ooops. forgot to say. If you are making a thinner layer use blue bc underneath.

Use it on top of the Buttercream. I have also used it on fondant too.
