I was just wondering. Is there any computer software that i could use to show how i wanted my cakes to look. Does that make sense? I would like to create my cake and look at the finished product before starting to decorate the real thing. I am not an artist. I can't even draw a straight line with a ruler. I always start out like i want then start putting stuff on i don't really need. Overkill i guess. How do you all (yeah i am from the south) decide how much to put on your cake and what colors compliment each other. thanks, tina

i'm not sure if there's a program out there, but you could use something simple like paint or photoshop to color in templates and cut and paste flowers on them. there is actually a template gallery here on CC now so you could download some blank forms and have at it!
i'm actually working on making a program for that purpose myself. i can't wait until i finish.

I have PSP 7 with thousands of tubes, masks and the such. I just found a cake that would give me the top and side view like i need. I am going to go in and erase the extra parts, flood fill the cake, the add diffent layers of roses and such to see how i want my cake to look. I don't know why i didn't think of it earlier. I have been doing pictures and stationery with OE using PSP7 for years this should be a piece of cake. HaHa pun intended. Thanks for the idea.

I just simply draw out my cake in pencil and then color it with my son's crayons. It doesn't have to be a work of art, no one but me sees it. Then if the colors don't look quite right together or the one side looks kind of empty, I can make changes and see what it looks like until I get what I want. Totally low-tech, but it works for me.
