Im making a bride doll cake for a shower in a couple of weeks and will be covering the cake in fondant. Cant figure out how to cover her upper body in fondant so that it looks like a dress. Dont want to do the BC flowers - like the look of fondant -- does anyone have a pattern / ideas on how to cover her?????

Do you have any barbie clothes you can take apart and use as a pattern? That's what I would do. Or you can experiment with paper. Not sure if that's helpful or not, but that's what I would do. Anyone else?

If you don't have any barbie clothes to take apart, you could use scrap cloth, too... I personally would probably just practice with fondant.

Roll it out, drape it on the doll and pinch, tuck and fold until it looks good.

Take the fondant and wrap around her and then use a little knife and trim the neckline and arms.

Good luck thumbs_up.gif

Don't forget to pipe in a pearl necklace or bracelet or earrings. If you'd like you can check out my dolls in my photos for some ideas. Hope this helps.

Thanks to all of you who submitted suggestions -- they came in handy and here's the finished product. I started out with the idea to use MMF - but mine was too stiff and couldnt be worked with. Thank goodness I always have a Plan B - Wilton Ready Made Fondant -- I flavored it with a raspberry flavor -- not too bad.
