Hello everyone. i am going to be making a curious george cake for my sons second birthday and i have decided to use the 3d bear pan and make it into a monkey.

i am good with most parts except his arms. i would like to make them go up and grab onto the big yellow hat. I'm not sure how to make that happen, from another post i was told to use rice crispies but how to you make them angel and look like an arm. do i just mold it and it will stick??

additional question. do you think this will work?? using the 3d bear cake, cutting off the ears and moving them down to monkey ear level. i am going to just put toes below the bear feet to make it look like he is crouching down. then i would like to make the big yellow hat and place it on top. i was thinking of using a ice cream cone and fondant to make the hat. would rice crispies work better for this too?? i have never really used fondant before so if i were to cut it out in the brim of the hat and let it dry out and get hard would it stay like that for the party or is more likely to break is not supported???

THANK YOU for anyone you can help me. i know i have a lot of questions and i am all over the place. :O) thanks for sticking with me.

I think a lot of this depends on your skill. If you wanted to have georges arms holding the hat? then i think you would have to put rice krispies around dowels and push down through the cake. If you could get the hat on a cake board and support it with dowels down through the cake it might work but if you haven't done anything like this I would NOT suggest it.
This seems pretty elaborate as far as the structure goes. I would try and see if you can configure the dowels without anything on them in a way that would support the cake.
There are examples of the yellow hat on here you could probably pm the persons for instructions. I am pretty sure they were made out of fondant. You would need to allow ample time for it to dry.
I am by no means an expert but there are plenty of people on here that could tell you better on how to make it work.

I would put rice krispie treats or even just fondant/gumpaste mix around some wire for the arms being that you're gonna want a bend, make sure and leave extra wire on the ends to go into the cakes!!
