IS there a recipe for homemade piping gel?


I have searched and searched but no luck.....need water look!

ok I'm kinda scared....I'm making the piping gel and it looks like...snot?!! WHat happened? will it change? what is it supposed to be like? I did the gelatin in the cold water, then heated it and added syrup it just looks so weird?!!

HELP!

Piping gel pretty much looks like snot when you buy it premade! You must be on the right track icon_razz.gif

did you use light syrup?

maybe it will just stay snotty, i mean, the wilton piping gel isn't quite see through.... icon_confused.gif

ok now Ive screw it up....its just liquidy, no way it will go in a bag to pipe.......ARRRRRGGGGGG!!!

I'd put it in the fridge for a while and see if it sets up a bit. Maybe the gelatin needs to cool or something?

There is a thread from a while back regarding this same issure..Unfortunately I am one of them who tried the recipe and it was horrible.Sank into my cake....too runny.I only use wilton now!! Look for the thread,

I had this happen to me the first time too... I was able to fix it in a second batch, but I can't remember exactly what I disocovered. I either boiled the water instead of just heating or didn't heat the full combination long enough. .. I am thinking the second, but my poor brain can't remember for sure.

I know the booger stuff never worked. I had to throw it out.

I made it one time. It was AWFUL!!! Now I just but the pre-made.
