Can anyone tell me how many cups of batter a boxed mix makes? On Wilton's site, it tellsyou how many cups of batter you need for a pan, but I have no idea how many cups is in a boxed cake mix.

TIA

I think it is 4 - 6 cups of batter depending on the cake mix brand and flavor HTH

With betty crocker I get about 4 to 4 1/2 cups.

With Duncan Hines mix plus one egg plus one small box of powdered instant pudding I get exactly 6 cups.

Haven't used Pillsbury so hopefully someone else can answer for that one.

I have used the recipe on this site where you mix in sour cream, pudding, oil, water, & 4 egg whites to a box mix and I always get right at 6 cups of batter.

does the cake shrink much when you add the sour cream, extra egg and pudding mix?
