This is a photo of my wedding cake top. It was done by a local bakery. I would like to try to recreate this for our anniversary. Can someone tell me what tip might have been used for the decorations on the side of the cake?

TIA
LL

I'm guessing a 10 or 11 round tip?

It has a bit of a curve to it so I was thinking it must be something other than round (and definitely not any of the star tips) but I'm not familiar enough with all of the tips... hhhhmmmmm...

It looks like it might be a Tip 79. You can see the tip itself in the 'Decorating Tip Numbers' article in the Articles section. It's down at the bottom under the Specialty Tips.

Maybe a tip like the one used for lily of the valley?

There are some tips shaped like a C......and I'm thinking that would create a similar effect if not the same.

I'm going with Lily of the Valley. It looks sort of like a cupped shape.

Thanks everyone for having a look. I think maybe JulieBugg got it with the tip 79. I had a look at the list and now that you mention it, I think that is probably it. I don't have this tip currently so I will get one and do a practice run. Thanks everyone!! icon_biggrin.gif

Looks like a round tip trailing off to make a coma shape. May be a 10/11 as cakesbyjess said.

Got in after your post. Glad you figured it out.

Happy Anniversary.

It looks like a mum tip to me. That would be #80 and there are other sizes of the same tip. It is shaped kind of like a cresent and is rounded and used for lily of the valley and mums mostly. I know it would work! Gook Luck!

I think it's time for a trip to the craft store. I have several possibilities now... one can never have too many tips! thumbs_up.gif Thanks for all of the suggestions. I'm definitely going to give them a try.

I agree with auntiecake I think it is 80.

You may be able to look up on the wilton site how to pipe that particular decoration. It may be like lilly of the valley, but I think it only has the top part of the "flower".

good luck! I think it is a sweet idea!

Looks like a medium-sized round tip, and they made 'c' shapes with it.

I say round, 8-10 maybe. Just shaped like a comma.

I also agree with auntiecake. With the point I'm seeing on the side decorations, it's definitely a petal tip.

Like she said....try the 80. That's what I'd go with too. icon_biggrin.gif
