Hello fellow CC members! I just wanted to share some news with you all. I had entered 2 cakes into our local fair competition and the results are in! (both cakes are in my photo gallery) For the "Any Other Cake" category-professional division- I entered the pink and brown, 2-tiered cake with the loopy bow and placed 3rd. For the "Birthday Cake" category, I entered a 3-tiered western themed cake and placed FIRST!!! I am so excited and wanted to share this with all of you since I got a lot of ideas for both cakes from this site. This was the first time I have entered anything for competition, so I was very surprised to place 3rd, much less 1st!

Awesome!! Congratulations on both your cakes! Isn't it so exciting? I entered my very first cake contest in last year's State Fair and won 1st and a special award winner ribbon for it too. I was shocked and beyond thrilled so I know how excited you are!

Congrats on the awards! I am so inspired by those of you who can enter contests and win, but mostly with the beautiful jobs you all do. My company has a bakoff each year, and this time I may do a cake, but it will be a model of one of our branches (suggesed by a co-worker). Being they are mostly windows (we are a bank) it may be tough, but heck if I enter all the categories - cake, cookie, pie - I might have a small chance of winning this year!
