I am making alien head cookies for my neice's 8th b-day.
I can't decide whether to stick the cookies or not.
I have only done sticks a few times - for stuff given away.
My kids have eaten a few leftovers and they have completely fallen
off the stick while they were eating them.
Any suggestions on this?
When ever I do cookies for a party I stick em. I think they look cooler that way. They almost always fall off the stick when you eat them, but no one ever seems to mind.
after cookie is cooked and cooled.
turn over and run a thick bead of royal (just as if it were elmers glue) up back of cookie and put stick into it. allow to harden before turning over. can even run a second layer of royal on top of stick to totally encase it -- but why bother.
here is my two cents:
are you using lollipop sticks? if so try baking with popsicle sticks: they cover a wider area but are thinner. If you are still afraid that that would fall off the stick, once they have cooled add a ring of royal icing around the base of the cookie where the cookie meets the stick; you can make it to match the cookie decorations.
My baking buddies and I always do this, & never have any problems with cookies falling off the stick.
Let me know how that works for you
ciao
I use skewers for my cookies sticks and never have had the problem of them falling off. I cut my cookies out with cutters, put them on a sheet in the freezer for about 10 minutes and then put the skewer in the cookie about half way before cooking, works great for me.
Thanks for all the replies.
I did end up baking the sticks in the cookies..we'll see how it goes tomorrow if they all fall off when being eaten.
I like the idea of the popsicle stickes...I may do that next time.
I try to post a pictue sometime during the week.
