Good morning all. Hope everyone is having a great week-end. I've been thinking of something and I thought I would make a suggestion if no one minds. I look through the gallery quite a bit and I get lots and lots of ideas from all of the beautiful cakes on there. A lot of times the person will describe the cake but very seldom does anyone comment on the size of the cake or the cake layers. Because I'm not real knowledgeable yet, I have a hard time figuring out what size they are. Anyway, I just thought that everyone would benefit by knowing exactly what size the cake/layers are. That's it. Thanks everyone for all your help.
Margie

I am such a newbie that I haven't added any photos yet but I will try and include as much details as I can. Thanks for the suggestion.

I have just finished a Fairy-tale Castle cake for a friend's daughter which I hope to add to my photos soon.

Hey Panda. I'll be looking for your Fairy-Tale castle cake. Wow, sounds like that would be a challenge. It would be for me anyway. icon_smile.gif

Good idea Margie. I have a hard time telling the size of a cake too.

The only size that I can identify from a picture is the 6 inch round icon_lol.gif

But does it really matter what size the cake is?

yes, it certainly WOULD be helpful to know what sizes were used. so hard when looking at cakes by themselves to know the sizes.

this would be especially helpful w/ tiered cakes.

all the magazines, yearbooks, decorating books I've read specify the sizes needed/used...it would be nice if we could follow the same convention.
(the size is a part of the "recipe", if you will, of the cake)

Just recently, I was looking through the gallery trying to find a 10, 8, and 6 inch tiered cake. I wanted to do one using those sizes and I just wasn't sure if it would look good. I saw some beautiful cakes and I loved the cake sizes that were used but I wasn't sure what size each cake was. I would have loved to have seen a few cakes that I knew were the sizes that I was thinking about using so that I would know if it was really the look that I was going after. So, in some circumstances, I really do think that the information is very helpful.
