Has anyone ever used witons whipped icing mix? I really want to use riches bettercream but the only place that ships it is sugarcraft and the shipping charge is outragous. Or if anyone has a recipe for a whipped cream type icing of these sorts that is tried and true I would be greatful for it if you wouldn't mind sharing.

Hi Cake_momma,

I recently used Wilton's Whipped Icing when I had to do a cake on short notice and didn't have time to make buttercream icing and I have to say it was very light and airy - almost too light for me. I think that it is good if you want a airy frosting for a bundt cake or angel food cake but on a layer cake I don't recommend it if you are planning on using it piped on. Unfortunately it was a very hot day and when I piped it onto the cake it dropped in certain areas but I think that was just the heat. Everyone did like the taste of it though.

I've used Wilton's Whipped icing and I like it. I think it's a little expensive for the amt you get once it's whipped. I've also ordered Rich's buttercream from sugarcraft and the shipping is outrageous. What I do now when a customer wants the whipped icing is go to the supermarket bakery and they'll sell me the bettercream for $2.00 a pound. Alot easier and cheaper in the long run.
