Hello all
I'm new at baking and decorating cakes and I need your help with sheet cakes and sizes. What size pan is needed for a quarter, half, and full sheet cake? Do I need to torte the sheet cake? I'm in course two of the wilton class, and loving it. Thanks for your help

It doesn't really matter what you call your cakes, everyone seems to have different names for them anyway. If you're taking orders ask how many the cake will be serving.

I use the traditional 9X13 for my quarter sheet size. You need to know how many the cake will be serving to determine the size of the cake. I hope this helps some.

In the thread below are a couple of links discussing sizes of sheet cakes and number of servings.

In a nut-shell, don't get hung up on the label. Most consumers have no idea how big a "full sheet" is anyway. They'll ask you how much is a half sheet then turn right around and ask you how many it serves. That's why I refuse to use the terms. I ask them how many people they need to feed then *I* tell THEM what size cake they need.
