mine is the NIECEzilla, aka the MOMMYzilla

1st b-day of son coming up next friday.

so Unka Dug suggests a caterpiller cake...but w/ a twist ... I do head and smash and base fondant on it, then have lots of rolled out colored fondant and cutters and let each person decorate one of the little humps of the 'piller any way they want...communal cake decorating.

but NO...we want to make it "easy" on Unka Dug....

so...can you make a 3-D train cake that's just the engine and serves 30 or so -- you've got a pan for that right?

you mean you'll have to bake more than one cake to do a train cake?

well, can't we just go to the craft store and buy the train pan big enough?

you mean you'd have to bake several cakes and then carve them to get a big 3-D train for 30?

well, can we do a small standup train and put it on a big sheet cake w/ railroad tracks....

well how about a big stand up teddy bear???
flat teddy bear? they make a pan that serves 30 don't they?

----------------
now awaiting website links ....she has to make up her mind by Sun. evening (yah, right!) as Unka Doug hits the highway Mon. morning to go FLA to make the cakes (and take care of Miss Molly all week too)

mine is my mom-zilla. unbelievable. I complained about her and these cakes in a different thread, but she wants me to make a wedding cake for a surprise wedding she's throwing. Doesn't know the brides favorite flowers or colors. Fine. I suggest a simple pretty cake with the ribbon around the bottom, she doesn't want the cake fondant because it's gross, I get that, I can do it bc. Well, I don't want the ribbon because I don't think people should have to remove things from the cake before eating. Did you know there would be dowel rods in a 3 tier cake? Really? Can you make it without them? No. Okay then, how about the seperate cakes with the big pretty bow on top each one. You know it's a fondant bow, right? Oh, can you make it out of bc. I'm not a magician. Okay, how about 3 cakes with mini royal icing drop flower swags. Fine. We're settled. I say, this cake will serve 100 people this size serving (my husband cut it out of paper and measured it to be 1"x2"x4" So it was pretty healthy looking size to me. She thinks they are too small and would want the servings to be twice the size. Okay, then your 3 cakes serves 50 for the same price. OH That's not enough. What in the world did she think would happen to the servings if she wanted to double the size of the servings? The price doesn't split in half as well.

I booked a place for my daughters birthday for the same weekend, she can take her crazy butt somewhere else.

My worst one was a woman who wanted a wedding cake and wanted it to look like two 3D hedgehogs standing up, one dressed as the groom and one dressed as the bride. The whole thing would have been so damned twee it made me want to throw up. She said she wanted to pay about £30 for it!!!! I haven't done a single wedding cake at less than £250. £30 wouldn't even buy the ingredients! I said she should go to someone else as I don't do cute.

I had another woman wanting a 3D model of a specific type of train for her wedding, she sent photos and everything. After a while of emails and discussion she decided that she would only pay £50 for the cake. I suggested she went to Sainsburys (supermarket). Why do people want the moon on a stick for 50p? These are my worst customers.

My favourites as the ones who just say 'do what you like,' yippeee!!

Mine is the MIL-zilla. MY sister is getting married and the woman keeps asking about the details of the wedding that I don't know and telling me that the cake I'm planning is too big. She insists that my wedding cake (6", 10", 14") was ENOURMOUS and would more than feed 200 icon_confused.gif and tells me everytime I talk to her how to decorate the cake. icon_mad.gif
I wish my sister would be a little more like the MIL though because the only things she cares about is that has to feed 200, be a tier cake and have calla lilies.
