To any of you that use the cake boss software, I have a question or two, I am right on the fence, and my biggest question is this, does it help you figure out what to charge? I have been doing this for about a year now, but I am starting to realize how little I charge ( my castle, not as grand as most, but I only charged 25$)

And also, do you find it harder than the normal paper and post it notes, or is it easy to fill in/ use while on the phone.

TIA

It sounds like you have the same issues I do! I'm really not sure if this software is helping me icon_eek.gif ! I have only had it for a few weeks now and I've spent so much time trying to figure everything out. It seems like it still has some glitches that need to be fixed. Although, I do like how it calculates the cost. But like you, I'm on the fence with this one!!

Ok as someone that was a beta user and now an owner of the program I will getly push you over to this side of the fence icon_wink.gif

Yes it is much easier then searching for that darn note paper you jotted down on late last week lol icon_wink.gif If I'm not near my laptop and can't get to CB during an order I'll take notes and then once I'm back to CB I fill it all in.

As for pricing.... I was always underpricing and this helps ALOT!

Ok firstly you'll want to input all of your recipes that you use, doing so you will add your ingredients and use the prices for those items, example 2 cups milk 1.50, 2 cups sugar 2.00, 3 cups flour 2.50 etc etc. It will then give you a total for your COST of that recipe and if it's a fixed price item like my fudge has a customer base price of $12.00 but my ingredients cost is only $4.89 lol....

When you draw up and order you will type in for example Yellow Cake and then click the box and select the recipe and it'll put in the price for that. You continue thru until all your needed recipes are in there and it'll draw up a price for that.

I've set my hourly rate at $15.00 an hour and somehow it figures that in too lol not sure how to explain that one but it figures in your time as well.

I priced up the Wrestling Ring cake I'm about to start on for Saturday and I was THINKING the price would be $35.00 at most.... it priced it up as $56.33 icon_wink.gif

Anyway to make a long post a little shorter lol IT'S WORTH IT!!!!!! GET IT!!!! And at the CC member discount icon_wink.gif it's totally a steal!!! icon_wink.gif

Edited to add: Once you get the hang of using the program you'll fly thru your order details. When I first got it as a beta user I created "fake" orders and customers just to get the feel of things and get the hang of things before using it for my real orders and stuff so I didn't screw anything up icon_smile.gif

It also has a print feature that allows you to print out an Order Summary/Reciept for your customer with your company logo (if available) as well as your Business name, address, phone number, and the customers name address and phone.

This program is EXACTLY what I've always been looking for. Also if you are having any problems with bugs or anything at all! Kelley and Jon are the best at customer support. You can go to the forums (Kelley has a private forum set up just for CB related things) and post in the bugs section and normally bugs are fixed in a matter of a few hours or at the most a day.

I have to say that I really do love the software. There are some changes that I am sure will happen over the next few months, but I think it is great!! Kelly always responds within hours if I have to send an email.

Yes, it has helped me with pricing. When I actually saw how much some of my cakes were costing me, things changed in my mind as far as not charging too much!!

I still write most orders out on a piece of paper and then sit down at night and input them all into the program. It is so nice to be able to just pull up the calendar and see what is coming over the next days, weeks, months, etc.!!

Yes! Vista installation requires a few more steps, however we have had great success with the workaround we developed. Any Vista users who purchase will receive the special installation instructions. Please email me at [email protected] if you have any questions! icon_biggrin.gif

Also - there are REALLY REALLY great video tutorials that help explain a lot of the questions that I had.

I can't begin to tell you how great this program is!
