Is Heavy Cream And Whipping Cream The Same Thing?

Just wondering if it's the same or different, and if it's different, what's the difference. I have a cake to do this weekend and it's 3 tiers. One of the tiers has a filling that calls for heavy cream and another has a filling that calls for whipping cream. Please help!! ![]()
I've been polling older ladies at the grocery store about this because heavy cream seems to have all but disappeared from the store! Now, at every store in my town, we have heavy whipping cream and whipping cream - here's what the older ladies say: heavy whipping cream is for making homemade whipped cream, but regular whipping cream is the new name for heavy cream, they have always been the same thing just with different names. hth!
Depends on your taste really. I prefer using heavy cream and making it myself. Heres the recipe if you would like to try it:
1 (16) oz Heavy Cream
1 Cup powdered sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
Combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl and beat on medium speed until stiff peaks from.
One way to cut your whipping time in half with heavy cream is to place your mixer bowl in the freezer for about 20 minutes it works great and cuts your time in half.
