I am going to cover a sports ball in fondant (to make a teapot). Does anyone have any tips or instructions on how to do this? I've coverd normal round cakes with fondant, but never a spherical round one!

It's been a while since I've posted. I hope all the cake lovers here have been doing well!

Thanks!

I did a soccer ball for the first time a couple months ago. It was the first time I had tried to smooth fondant on something round and it went really well! I just took my time smoothing it all around the cake, kept pulling down a bit on the fondant and just smoothin' it out icon_wink.gif

I actually found the baseball I did a lot easier than a normal round cake too. Just make sure you take your time, and it'll be fine.

Hey! Me too! I am doing a golf ball for my Dad this weekend and I am using MMF! I always just take my time to smooth it out. From top to bottom. If you have the luxury to put it on a separate plate I like to hold mine up like a pizza and smooth with the other hand...well, maybe that came with practice. Do what you feel is best and take your time!

Good luck on yours!!
