So I have an order at work for an old-time glamour Hollywood cake - if anyone has seen the design for the Scooby-Doo cake from Bakery Crafts, but it has an airbrushed design to look like spotlights meeting in the center from the 4 corners.
Now, the woman is having an overnight girl's (women's really lol) Hollywood party, they'll be staying up watching old movies and stuff...so she wants to go with a black & white theme, she likes the spotlight design but in a grayscale.
I want to do more than just this though, but the cake is for tomorrow and since it's at work, I can't do just anything. No fondant, everything has to be made in BC...no placques of any sort. So yeah, really just everything freehanded in BC.
She also mentioned possibly having a star traced in the center where the spotlights meet, with the birthday girl's name written inside. She doesn't want to go with a black trim though because she doesn't want everyone to have black lips....
They rented out a nice suite in a hotel for this party and I'd like it to be special for her...if it was an ordinary customer, I wouldn't do so much but she works in my bank and well, yeah, I'd like to do something nice.
Also, what's the best way to mask off an area when airbrushing? I'm not sure whether I am going to use the whipped Bettercreme or the BC we have yet....I don't want the color to get muddy though.
Any tips are definitely welcome!
