Okay, the groom doesn't want a chocolate cake or chocolate frosting or anything, but he does want the chocolate dipped strawberries on top with the basketweave around the base of a square cake. So what color do I make the icing??? The bride's colors are light pink and dark pink, and I absolutely cannot make a groom's cake pink! The cake will be white with pink flowers, so I can't make it white either. Any ideas?

How about a caramel frosting. Since it a basket weave, make it the color of a basket.

Caramel sounds like a good option. Anyone else have any ideas, so I can give a few thoughts to the groom?

coffee or espresso buttercream, toasted hazelnut, almond, toasted coconut pecan, (doubt you could do a basketweave with that) any of those would be a range of off white to a light brown.

How about red velvet with cream cheese icing? That's very popular with grooms here in the south.

Red velvet is a form of chocolate cake, but it might just work, and if you made it from scratch you could add pink food coloring instead of red.

I would think that a pound cake might made a nice alternative and would favor well with fruits and the strawberries. It might be a nice alternative to those who would prefer something lighter or who like a whipped cream icing instead of buttercream.

Carrot cake with cream cheese icing, or a spice cake with cream cheese, or if he wants to be really wild and crazy he could go for a dreamcycle (my favorite!!)

All these ideas are so yummy!!! What is a dreamcycle cake? Is that orange or something?

I made a cinnamon-hazelnut cake with cinnamon buttercream and let the MOB try it, and she took a slice to take to the groom. Maybe that is the answer?
