Can You Smooth Fondant Booties Once Dried???

Hello everyone. Alrighty, I did my first attempt at fondant today. I made mini baby booties and even though they are not perfect, I'm actually pretty happy with them. I do have a question though. They are just about dried and the edges, especially around the toes are a bit rough. I think it's where I couldn't get the toe and the sole to match up perfectly. Anyway, I was wondering if once completely dried, is there anything that I can do to smooth it out a little bit? I used all fondant if that helps with an answer. Thanks so much for any help you can give. Have a wonderful evening.....
I use an emory board, or a nail filer! Of course, I have bought one specifically for it....but since no one will probably eat the booties, I think it will be ok to use it! lol. Really, I use it to smooth down the edges of the fondant pieces once they have already dried. Go slowly at first, always going in one direction. You can always wet your fingers a little with water to smooth and take away the powdery residue, but not too much! I have not tried it on the actual surface, only on edges....but let me know how that goes!!!! This will work on gumpaste too. I have a picture of a baby bootie for a cake I will be doing this saturday, feel free to check it out, and let me know if you have any questions. I would love to see how yours turn out!
Have a great day!
Thanks so much miriel and Isaby. I really do appreciate your replies. I did try sanding a little with a file and it worked perfectly. Now I'm just having a problem finding ribbon for the booties. I found the exact color that I need but it's too wide and of course if I cut it to make it more narrow, it just unravels
Now I'm on a mission for ribbon...... Thanks again for your help.
