Please help me! I am making a Louis Vuitton purse and need to know how to make the letters in gold on the cake. I've been practicing and can't get it "thick" enough. What do you do when you're painting with it to do designs??????

TIA!!

I use lemon extract to paint with. Or some type of white liquor. I've also heard of some people piping the letters on and then painting over them. Some have also used fondant. I paint mines though and believe me, it's time consuming. I wish I had a better technique 'cause I've seen some unbelievable realistic LV cakes without the raised letters.

use a little less vodka. Let the alchohol evaporate if you've already poured too much; it will dry up quickly. Then just use the same container or dish you were using before so you won't waste the luster dust that you started with. HTH

What are you mixing it with? I usually use vodka as the liquid evaporates fairly quickly. If I add too much liquid, I just wait a while and it thickens on its own. If I'm in a hurry I just add more dust until it reaches the right consistency. It really only takes a tad bit of liquid with the luster.

Hope that helps!

Thanks everyone! I think I must have been using too much Vodka. I'll wait awhile and see how it gets.
