Baking In A Can And Not A Cake Pan???

Has anyone ever baked something in an empty can of vegetables? I need tips!!!! I am baking a judges gavel if this helps.
I baked pumpkin bread in coffee cans before. Not much different from cake pans. Fill the can 1/2 to 2/3 full and cook at 325 until done. Make sure you use a cake tester to make sure the middle is done. Usually, when the cake pulls from the sides of the can it's done. Have fun.
I've baked in cans before too and had no problems. I do have one serious word of warning though - food cans are coated on the inside with some kind of plastic that becomes toxic when heated. You can't see it but it's inside every can. The only way to get rid of it is to put the can on a fire - you will see and smell the vapours coming off it and the plastic peels away from the inside. Then they are safe to use. I have some baked bean cans I use again and again for a tiny top tier. I line them with baking paper as well as greasing the insides with butter.
I have used coffe cans, vegetable cans, and even tuna fish cans. You do have to "Fire" the food cans in the broiler though. This not only gets rid of that inner layer that Emmascakes was writing about, but it also gets rid of any food smells that may linger in the can after washing it.
