A friend has requested a cake with cream cheese icing either in the shape of a gavel or a gavel on it. It will be for a new employee that has the last name, Gavel. Any ideas??? I did a search on here and came up with only one and it was made out of fondant, which they don't want.

How big is the cake? You could bake a cake in can that would give you the end of the gavel, then make a fondant handle.

I never even thought of that! They need it to feed around 25 people. I was just picturing it laying on it's side.

How about a smaller gavel on a judge's bench with a nameplate that says 'Gavel'?

possible idea (sketch)

6"rounds stacked on edge, partially trimmed so will stand easily. fondant covered dowel for handle

or larger round cut in half, ditto on dowel.

here, check out the 3rd and the 5th image- could either do square or round base (that way you can feed more people).
