I have finally purchased a copy of Whimsical Bakehouse. LOVE IT!!!!

But - I am wondering if anyone knows (and I mean - KNOWS) which icing color brand they use for their BCs. In their book they don't mention any one product, and in fact their photograph has Wilton colors as well as some others in what look like squeeze bottles.

Now you and I both know, aint no WAY some of those colors are gotten from Wilton. Cobalt blue? Turquoise? Lime green? Fucshia????

I am crazy about the wild bright and vivid colors and want to work in that medium too, but I am completely unable to duplicate them with the Wilton colors I have, and before I invest in additional colors I'd like to know what brand produced them for the book.

THANX!!!!!

OK but do they really produce very vivid results? I had a feeling it might be Americolors but wasn't sure. I know they have a lot of "neon" type colors, anyone use them?

I DO I DO I DO!!!!
Look at my cookies.....I would call them brights not neons. I don't know the pic you are talking about but they are beautiful bright colors.

Well I use SMBC and I find that oil based colors produce very vivid colors. I have used the Americolor paste too and they work great on fondant. If you use a meringue based icing oil id the way to go. What other brands are there?? We have Chef master,Witon and Americolors available here.

Do you think I can e-mail Riviera and flat-out ASK them? Do you think they'd tell me?

Pg 155 has the list of suppliers they recommend.

They do use candy colors. The brand I have available here is called "ChefMaster" I can't get every color at the cake supply store, but I have seen there are colors available online. [/list]

For the record, I called them last year when I too was curious about the brand that they use. The lady said they use CHEFMASTER color for the icing and CHEFMASTER candy color. You can confirm this by comparing the bottle of color with the images in the book. My local grocery store (Publix) also use the same brand.
