Pretty Proud And Tooting My Own Horn!!

Normally I would not make a post on a cake I am making unless I am needing help, however.......I am so proud of myself! I just had to share. I know there are FAR better decorators here, but this one made me pretty happy.
I have done this cake before, the directions were shared with me origionally by Sarahcakes. Her cake is Awesome. There are still a few things I would do differently, the gumpaste hood needs more work for one thing.
This is the first time I have done wood grain and any modeling to amount to anything.
You did a wonderful job. It looks really nice. You should toot your own horn. Hopefully someday I will be that talented!!
The cake is the 7 inch oval pan from class 2.
Thanks everyone
Wow what a great cake! The recipient will be delighted!! ![]()
Thanks everyone!
both white layers were made with JEM cutters from Global sugar art

Then I used a plastic Wilton tool to emboss the piece.
What a pretty shower cake. I think it will be in my favourites.
I saw Collette Peters make wood grain in about 2 min. It took me alot longer, but I tried to copy what I saw her do.
3 shades of brown, and 1 shade of a yellow-brown MMF in the shape of sausage links. Sit them side by side and roll into one long candy cane, but don't twist. Keep making the sausage long and fold it back on itself. Keep the lines of color straight. Repeat this several times. Then roll flat with a rolling pin.
I cut stripes of it out and put "nail" holes in the wood. Then stained the whole thing with Brown Wilton color mixed with vanilla. It settled into the cracks and stained them.
AAAHHHHHWWW Cakemommy thanks you made my day (the check is in the mail lol) ![]()
Good job! It's always nice to toot your own horn, lol!
Way too cute!! I love it. You did a great job. You should be proud.
