Hi everyone,
I posted this down pretty far in another thread and then realized that the original topic was slightly different from my question at hand, so here it is again:
I have a 2 tier cake (8.5" atop a 10"); the bottom tier ill be decorated in fudge and the top in IMBC with MMF 3-d fishes (top) and seaweed (sides). The bottom layer will have crushed nilla wafers on it to simulate sand. Will the cookies work instead of powdered sugar/parchment/etc. to keep the top cake board from sticking, or will top tier just slide off the cookies?
Note: I need to transport this cake stacked as I don't want to worry about smashing the fondant decorations on the top+sides of the top tier or smearing the BC while I try to stack it (for the first time ever) at the party. So of course I do plan to run a dowel thru the center.
Thanks!
I would think the cookies would work to keep your layers from sticking together...like you said, do use a dowel! I had to send a stacked cake 45 miles...the couple picked it up in a tiny car...had to go in the trunk!!! It was just a 6-8-10 stacked cake, but I used three dowels all the way through ... luckily it made it all in one piece and without sliding all over the place!
