What flavor cake goes well with caramel filling (other than chocolate)? Thanks for your input!

White, of course, banana, spice. That's all I can think of! icon_smile.gif

DH caramel cake would go great with caramel filling. It's not a strong caramel taste, but a very tasty cake. It is also the best smelling cake I've ever baked!! icon_smile.gif

The caramel cake I referred to is a Duncan Hines box mix. It is really good.

OH!! I don't think I have ever seen that in my area! General stuff is all I see! (Van, Choc, Strawberry, Spice, etc). I will have to look closer because I don't believe I have ever noticed that. Too cool! Thanks for letting me in on that. thumbs_up.gif

Sure thing! All of our local grocery stores (Meijer, Giant Eagle, Kroger) carry that flavor, and I've also bought it at Super WalMart. Good luck finding it! It's one of my favorite flavors, but one of my least ordered flavors. It's really good with bavarian cream filling and then I swirl caramel sauce (just the ice cream topping that you can buy in a jar) in with the bavarian cream. Mmmmmm ....

If you can't find the caramel flavor where you live, I'd be happy to mail you a box so you can try it. Just let me know! icon_smile.gif

Really? I have never seen caramel DH anywhere here. I'll have to check around.

I've used a caramel filling with ther Hershey's chocolate cake (so good), banana cake and white chocolate cake.

I make a caramel cake variation of my basic white cake recipe ((found under "Basic White Cake" (with variations)) on this site. Good luck!
