My son would like a Darth Vader head for his birthday cake, and wants it to be a standup cake. do any of you think that using the Wonder Mold pan to do this would work? Any tips or suggestions for success? All help will be greatly appreciated. ![]()
Hi, wow that is quite a challenge your son asked for
My DH also wanted something with Star Wars but fortunately left it the "design" to me ![]()
But yes I think the wondermold would make a nice base for it, then you won't have to carve a lot, maybe a bit for the eyesockets en put some fondant ( i don't know if you are making it with fondant??) on some place to model it more.
Good luck with it and it you finally decide just to have flat one

Thanks for your suggestions, Lara. Your Star Wars cake is awesome! I am going to use fondant (inspired by Bronwen Weber's Ursula cake on the last Food Network Challenge) and I'll post a picture if it turns out recognizable. ![]()
What about using a styrofoam bust like so many of the Spiderman cakes on here (I've even done one)?
If you are going to use the styro head, like the spidey cakes, here is a link to do the spiderman bust cake. That might be a good reference for building the cake, and then just change the decorating? Jen
