When you tier your cakes do you decorate them first and then place them on top of eachother or place first then frost. When i use fondant i decorate first then place on, but I'm a little confused as to how you would frost BC first and stack it on top without messing us the BC. Thanks!!

I icing my cakes, smooth them ... if you have swags, or other decorating, I do those .. I don't put the bottom borders until I've stacked or tiered the cakes...

i normally ice all the cakes first put them in the fridge to set and get hard then stack.... i decorate all my cakes after being stacked.. unless its a very big cake then i stack the botton 2 or 3 tiers decorate and decorate the smaller cakes that go on top seperately.. hope thats not too confusing icon_razz.gif

very helpful tips, thank you. I was just afraid that if I iced first and then put on I would smear icing either on the tier I'm placing or the one I'm placing on. I guess if I refridgerate first this won't happen. Thanks again!!
