"you & your new best friend" -- LOL...I've been referring to her (yes, HER) as my baby! No husband, no kids, just lots of cake and frosting!

KitchenAid 5qt professional series -- that's exactly what I got! 450 watts in RED!

I'm SO incredibly excited!!! Seriously, I can't wait to use it!

About KA's - about how much do they run? I've been borrowing one from church, but I want one of my own!

Depending on the model they run from about $199 to $450. I am currently using a standard 5 qt Artsian and the only problem I run into is I cannot make enough icing at one time for larger [wedding] cakes. I love it though!

I jacked my mom's 5qt KA. She has not baked a single thing from scratch in her life so it eludes me as to why she needs one, but whatever, I got a great mixer out of the deal! I also have a handheld that I use when my KA bowl is occupied for some stuff, but I need to get another bowl for the KA.

I have the 6 qt. pro and the 5 qt. artisan. I love them both and use them almost everyday! I use the larger one for icing, and the smaller one for cake!

I just recently got the ice cream maker attachment, and I love that also. You can make homemade icecream in the kitchen!

I have had my KA for 25 years and it's still perfect, although I did get the bigger one 6 years ago (great sale!) and have never been disappointed. In fact, the big joke with us is....I took back a ring my husband bought me before we got married and I bought a Kitchen Aid!! He knew then he's be in for a 'sweet' ride!

I bought it off ebay for about $160 (including shipping)! It has been refurbished, but I've talked to several people IRL who bought theirs this way, and they've never had a problem! Hopefully, I won't either!
