Anyone know where I can find a good pattern to use to make Ocean Coral with royal icing?

I tried the coloring book pages but wasn't happy with them.

48 days until my wedding!

I saw this beautiful cake over on the Wilton site. It was one of the winners in the 2004 contest. Maybe it will give you some ideas...

There are some really nice pics of coral here...

I think this is the best one from that page but you might want to check out all of them.

Also if you wanted to make coral that looked like this...

You could dip grape stems in white chocolate/candy melts. You could even brush those with luster dusts.

Thanks Lisa - I agree that is the exact kind of coral I'll use.
But I also love the grape stem idea! I'm going to try it!

Hi, could you just use candy melts and drizzle it on waxed paper to dry and then put on the cake?

I keep thinking somebody would be sure to try to eat the grape stems thinking they were all edible! Janice

LOL! I thought about that too. I've seen them used on cakes and you'd want to remove them before serving. At least if someone did try to sneak a bite, it wouldn't hurt...they're edible just not tasty.

Which type of coloring book coral did you try? The Dover coloring books are what they call *museum quality* and have a lot more details than most kid coloring books.

in case that link doesn't work...

then type in coral in the search box on the left.

Good luck! I loved the idea about covering the grape stems. I don't think anyone would get sick from eating the stems they just wouldn't taste very yummy and I bet they wouldn't eat more. icon_lol.gif

Be sure to post the cake when you finish!!!
