So I already had my LLC and today the Dept of Agriculture came and I passed my inspection with flying colors.... The only problem is, I have a 1 compartment kitchen sink. DH and I counted and in the 12 houses we have lived in this is the ONLY one to ever have a one compartment sink, grrrr!!! I mean honestly who builds houses that you are going to sell for nearly a 1/2 million (DC area!!) and puts a 1 compartment sink in !!!! So I am licensed to sell cake and frosting but nothing that could spoil, so my fillings and cheesecakes are out for now. So as we rent the house it makes it a little more complicated but we are going to pay and have a 2 compartment sink put in, that is a whole other long story in itself. THe one thing is I figure I can write it off as a business expense. Since I am leaving in 2 weeks to go to our hometown for our son's wedding it is going to have to wait though!!

Anyway, just wanted to share my semi-good news, I would have been yelling yippee very loudly but just a small yippee for today.

Congratulations! How lucky to live in a state that allows you to work from home. Many blessings in your new business.

I like small yippees because they lead to large yippees.

Congrats on your small yippee icon_biggrin.gifthumbs_up.gif .

Congratulations!!!! That is very exciting, despite the snag of having to get a 2-compartment sink. Yay for you!!!!! thumbs_up.gifparty.gif

I'm sure it's exciting to be able to sell at least cakes for now! That is great!

Looking at your avatar, I can't believe you have a son old enough to get married! Congratulations on that as well! icon_smile.gif

Same boat here......had my son just shy (2 weeks) of 20. My MIL had hubby very young as well. We didn't marry until I was 25 though. Get educated, get a job, and you can get married whenever you want.....just be happy!

My oldest sister is barely 5 feet tall and gets funny looks now that she has a little one of her own. She was getting in to events for student rates for years! Lil stinker.

Sorry.....hijacked another post! tapedshut.gif

Hmmm... I'm still toying with going legal (currently I do a cake a month) and I thought that you could use containers in the single sink to make it a double in VA.... We have a single sink too - big and DEEP with granite counter tops... no WAY am I ripping that up to put in something else.

Melissa, That is what Richmond (Dept of Agri.) told me too but the inspector said no. I have heard that Loudoun county inspectors are stricter for some reason, well that was compared to Fairfax, you are in a different county altogether right?? He said the container thing only applied to Farmer's markets and such. It is a little frustrating to get two different stories!!
