A person has asked me for a cake with a vanilla custard and fresh strawberry filling... My thought is to do a thin layer of the custard, and a thin layer of the strawberry filling... Will this work? I worry about it being too slippery between cake layers.
Also, is vanilla custard the same as vanilla pudding? I couldn't find a recipe in the recipe sections...

I wouldn't say that vanilla pudding is the same as custard. The custard will have more body (be more solid) than the pudding.

Almond Custard Filling:

(Change extract used to vanilla.)

Boiled Custard Filling:

Try using the instant Flan, in with the puddings, but use whipping cream instead of milk. You can even reduce the cream to 1 3/4 cups and it is a very stiff consistency. HTH

Great, thanks! I guess if custard is more solid than pudding I won't worry so much about it being too slippery!!
