My boyfriends birthday is today but we're celebrating this weekend. I want to make him a cake with a trout on it (he's a fly-fisherman). I was thinking of using color flow to make the trout but I'm not sure how I can since there seems to be so much shading involved. I'm not sure enough of myself to do a sculpted cake. I could just paint one on fondant but I want something that he'll really ooh and ahh over you know? Any ideas?

Yeah I'd probably go the FBCT route, or maybe a chocolate transfer instead.

That's so cool! All of your cakes are beautiful! I'm going to do a rainbow trout I think. This'll be my first chocolate transfer. Wish me luck!!

My trout turned out way better than I ever imagined it would and the CT was 100 times easier than I thought it would be. I'm very happy with the way the trout turned out and will definitely use this method again. The picture is in my pics file. As for the rest of the cake....see my post in the cake disasters section.
